LSU’s Angel Reese gives school supplies to EBR Schools
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD)– LSU star Angel Reese also known as “Bayou Barbie” hosted a “Back to School Giveback Block Party” on Sunday, Sept. 24. The party took place at McKinley Elementary School, 575 W. Roosevelt. Street. School supplies were donated to the East Baton Rouge Parish School System through the Angel C. Reese Foundation. According to EBR Schools, “notebooks, pens, pencils, backpacks, and more” were included in the donation.
The main objective of the foundation “is to ensure equal opportunities for all girls in sports, education, financial literacy, and other areas where girls have historically been overlooked.
This event was a way to show appreciation for teachers who may go unnoticed sometimes.
“I think teachers are unappreciated sometimes. So just being able to do it different,” Reese said.
The LSU star is helping those that educate students. “The teachers are really important. They take their time out of their lives to give back and help learn and teach students, so I’m just happy to be here with them and just being able to give back to them as well,” Reese said.
Kylie Latier is a teacher at McKinley Elementary School. She said she’s glad someone like Reese, who kids inspire to be like is helping to make a difference in the community.
“Kids deserve all the school supplies. Teachers are working hard to make things happen, so everybody will be very appreciative of this,” Latier said.
